I Know Sousa, Not Sopranos! A Workshop for the Band Director Teaching Choirs

Most instrumental directors are now utilizing singing in their rehearsals. In addition, many school band and orchestra directors are teaching choir part time or full time. Musicians are musicians regardless of medium. However, many instrumental directors have asked for assistance in how to teach using the voice and/or how to teach choral music as a trained band director. Dr. Russell Robinson, who was trained as an instrumental teacher, will share proven vocal techniques to use in the band rehearsal, and also share ideas regarding repertoire for instrumental directors teaching school and church choirs. All of these topics will be explored. Complimentary music materials will be provided.
